Holy basil, also known as Ocimum sanctum L. and tulsi, is native to Southeast Asia and has a dense history within Indian medicine. The leafy herb has been used for centuries to cure many conditions from anxiety and stress, to diabetes and high cholesterol. 

The Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine compared the antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties of holy basil to that of prescription antidepressants. In fact, a study concluded that consuming just 500 mg of holy basil extract a day leads to reduced levels of anxiety, stress and depression. And to that we say — HOLY BASIL! 🙌🏼
